Celebrate Gay Gingers with the 2024 Red Hot Calendar

READ TIME: 21 MIN.

Yesterday was National Redhead Day – a day for people with red hair to celebrate their rarest of hair colors. The day came about in 2011 when sisters Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti "wanted people to be proud of their red hair in response to negative posts on a Kick a Ginger Day site. (The term, 'ginger,' is seen as a derogatory description of people with red hair,"
writes the holiday website NationalToday.com. "As part of their slapback, the sisters created their website, 'How To Be a Redhead,' which eventually added Love Your Red Hair Day."

They went viral. A Beauty book followed, as did a subscription box "titled 'H2BAR Box'... providing all things beauty and accessories specifically for redheads."

"Recently in September 2019, the fabulous team behind this name, expanded their subscription box range and now offer a Deluxe H2BAR Box," the site said.

Even though National Redhead Day was yesterday, you'll have to wait until January 12 for Kiss a Ginger Day. "On Kiss A Ginger Day, we express our appreciation for redheads, who pull off the color so well and have a personality to match! So, find your favorite ginger and give them a kiss," a description on the site says.

"Red hair has always been unique and striking to all of us," the site continues. "While many redheads are unfortunately subject to jokes and mockery, we all love their fiery tresses."

There are many myths about red hair, such as that it has its roots in British and Celtic cultures. Historical regards found redheads in Ancient Greece and Asia. Today gingers are most prominent in Western Europe. Comprised of just 2% of the population, "the trait is most prevalent in western Europe. Red hair is slowly disappearing around the world."

For a decade now, Gay Gingers have been celebrated by the Red Hot calendar franchise. It is the brainchild of fashion photographer and creative director Thomas Knights, who created it with the mission to redefine the ginger male stereotype.

"This year's calendar features 12 months of the world's hottest gingers guys caught in the act as you've never seen before. The Voyeur is the only Red Hot calendar for 2024 so you know we've had to make [it] the most iconic," the website says.

"Red Hot 2024 is all about voyeurism. For the first time in Red Hot history, it's time for you to get behind the camera and see our brand-new line-up of beautiful gingers through the lens of our international photographers. This unique POV captures the boys in the act - think paparazzi, fly on the wall, rear window style shots of our models caught red-handed in some of our most provocative photography to date. This year, more is more."

"This year, our brand-new line-up of ginger guys have been shot through the lens of top international photographers, with incredible shoots in London, Sydney, Rome, New York, Kansas City, and Palm Springs."

In addition, Knights has prepared a brand new hardback coffee table book exploring the redhead male art nude. "Red Hot invites you on the trip of a lifetime. This year is our 10 year anniversary, so celebrated photographer, Thomas Knights is embarking on his biggest Red Hot project to date: a brand new art book of nude male fine art photography, shot around the world and starring a huge cast of gorgeous brand new guys," the site says.
