Savvy travelers know that with its iconic beaches, its sizzling nightlife, and its amazing culture, Miami is simply unrivaled as a year-round vacation destination. And for LGBTQ+ travelers there's even more to love throughout the year, with Greater Miami offering up a parade of vibrant celebrations of the many colors of our rainbow.

Can't-Miss Events

Miami Pride

Greater Miami & Miami Beach's queer calendar kicks off with a bang with Miami Beach Pride, which this year returns to its usual early-April timeslot after being rescheduled to September in 2021. The Pride flag will rise over Miami Beach City Hall on April 1 to usher in 10 days of world-class entertainment, celebratory exhibitions, and unique happenings, all of which make this one of the top LGBTQ+ events in Greater Miami.

OUTshine Film Festival is Miami's premiere showcase of the best and brightest in LGBTQ+ filmmaking from around the world, especially dedicated to presenting local premieres of Spanish-language titles whenever possible. This year's festival kicks off on April 22 and runs through Closing Night on May 1.

Sizzle Miami

SweetHeat Miami has the distinction of being the only continuous party on South Beach catering to women of all races, having debuted way back in 2008. For 2022, SweetHeat's slate of sexy and over the top events runs Wednesday, May 11 to Monday, May 16.

Just two weeks later over Memorial Day Weekend comes South Florida's top annual celebration for gay men of color, Sizzle Miami, one of the most celebrated and anticipated urban gay events in America. This year's Sizzle, which marks its 20th anniversary, runs from Thursday, May 26 to Monday, May 31.

Celebrate ORGULLO

Miami's artiest neighborhood of Wynwood gives the city its Pride Month celebration in June. Wynwood Pride is a three-day weekend of exciting and star-studded events that last year included performances by Charli XCX, RuPaul's Drag Race's Kandy Muse, and DJ Honey Dijon.

Throughout the first half of every October, Celebrate ORGULLO brings the magic of Hispanic and Indigenous LGBTQI+ art, music, dance & theater to Miami with a series of lively performances, installations, discussions and parties, making it an important part of the city's Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations.

RGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival

One of the world's largest LGBTQ+ events and circuit parties comes to town at the end of November with the URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival, a no-holds-barred four-day party weekend that includes three huge evening events, the legendary Sunday Beach Party, and a Monday morning after-hours gathering.

Running alongside the iconic Art Basel Miami Beach every early December is Art Gaysel, queering up Miami Art Week by showcasing more than 30 gay artists. It all goes down at Hotel Gaythering, the unique boutique hotel that's been a frisky hub for gay vacationers since its opening in 2014.

Recurring Events

Miami Beach Culture Crawl

Even if you happen to come to Miami when a big annual LGBTQ+ celebration isn't happening, many other fantastically queer events take place frequently throughout the year. On the third Thursday evening of every month from October through May, Miami Beach Culture Crawl brings the city alive with free cultural events like backstage tours, exhibition openings, and free film screenings in the park — all walkable, bikeable and connected by free trolleys. Every Friday throughout the year, local woodland creatures flock to Bears and Hares, a very hairy and sexy weekly party at Hotel Gaythering that also welcomes Otters, Wolves, Pigs and even Beavers.

Any time of year

Greater Miami and Miami Beach are filled with excellent art galleries like the gay-owned Wolf & Nomad, which showcases the work of emerging artists from Latin America, Europe, and North America, most notably rising art star Simon Vargas. The area's very popular LGBTQ+ beach, previously known as 12th Street Beach, was moved in 2021 to 11th Street — just look for the rainbow flags. Spread across 17,000 delicious square feet in the heart of South Beach, Time Out Market Miami is a curated food hall featuring 17 kitchens, three bars and a demo cooking area that bring together some of the best local dining on offer. Dine with the divas at Diva Royale, where drag shows by talented celeb impersonators will be sure to liven up your brunch or dinner. And check out — or rather, check in to — the 160-room , just a block from the beach and the first American outpost of the world-famous and gay-beloved Axel Hotel brand.
