With Lando Calrissian set to appear in Marvel's Star Wars comics Pride Month issue, speculation is brewing that Lucasfilm will finally make the fan favorite character's much discussed pansexuality officially canon.

According to Yahoo News, much of this discussion around Calrissian's sexuality came following the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, stemming from audiences picking up on the fan favorite's subtle flirting with Han Solo.

Currently, that speculation looks set to come to a head, with Marvel announcing on Saturday that Calrissian will be the cover character for a special Pride Month edition Star Wars comic.

"This Pride Month, gay and transgender artists will pay homage to some of the LGBTQ+ characters inhabiting a galaxy far, far away in a special line of variant comic book covers,"
the Star Wars official website's announcement read, with Calrissian chief among them.
Specifically, Calrissian will grace the cover of Star Wars #14, with the issue expected on store shelves by early June.

Calrissian, originally portrayed as a friend of Han Solo's by Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars films, has seen a resurgence in popularity following Donald Glover's portrayal of the character in Solo.

In interviews with both Glover and Solo writer Lawerence Kasdan, each said that they believed the character's sexuality to be open.

"There's a fluidity to Donald and Billy Dee's [portrayal of Calrissian's] sexuality," Kasdan said."I think it's time, certainly, for that, and I love the fluidity ? sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald appeals to."

In much more candid terms, Glover also spoke to this subject on a Sirius XM radio show in 2018.

"How can you not be pansexual in space?" Glover said. "It just didn't seem that weird to me 'cause I feel like if you're in space it's kind of like, the door is open! It's like, not only guys or girls. No, it's anything. This thing is literally a blob. Are you a man or a woman? Like, who cares? Have a good time out here."
