'American Horror Story' Actor Evan Peters Apologizes After Posting Vid Condemning Looters

Thursday June 4, 2020

"American Horror Story" star Evan Peters took to Twitter this week to apologize for retweeting a video that condoned violence against looters, People magazine reports.

Peters said he "unknowingly retweeted" the clip, which comes from a live news broadcast and shows police officers running after "looters" in the street. In the clip, officers can be seen running after a person on the street before tackling him to the ground while the person filming the incident cheers, "get them!"

"I Can watch these pice of shit looters get tackled all day!!" the Twitter user who shared the video initially wrote.

People notes that Evans quickly faced a backlash for sharing the clip but apologized earlier this week for retweeting it.

"I don't condone the guy watching the news at all in the video which I have deleted. I unknowingly retweeted it. I'm deeply upset it got on my newsfeed," the actor wrote. "I sincerely apologize if anyone was offended. I support black lives matter wholeheartedly."
